Reading Time!

Last Wednesday I took Haylie and Mikaela to Storybook time at the Weber County Library in Roy. We met up with one of my old neighbors and good friends, Melanie, and her two children. For any of you who are looking for something to do during the summer months I highly recommend this. The library workers read two or three stories to the children, blow bubbles, dance to music, and create crafts all in the space of about an hour.Haylie and her friend Olivia had a ball and the best part is it's free. It's very entertaining and it looks like they keep a pretty full house most of the time.

Mikaela kept herself busy with the block table and the fish tank during the craft time and Melanie and I got to enjoy some visiting too. They have some fun stuff planned for May, so go check it out!
I think next up will the the Living Planet Aquarium in Salt Lake. That looks like it might be fun!

Happy Birthday, Mikaela!

Holy Cow! I can't believe I have another two year old! It seems like I just finished getting Haylie through with that and now I'm diving back in for another round. Yikes. It's still very hard to believe that she is already two. At least this time I'm not 6 months pregnant and trying to find the energy to keep up with her curious little antics.

So, I must say having Mikaela has been a complete riot. She is totally embedded with the Olsen gene (Eric's mom's family). Those people can seriously clean. They make the celestial room at the temple look unkempt. (I know, I know...you're all thinking, "So, how did you end up in this family again?" to which my sweet, humble reply is "Shut it! Dirty girls need love too, you know!") The girl LOVES to clean anything, everything, and whatever else is left over. Eric and I are pretty certain she'll make the world's best maid-no, seriously she's a clean freak. And I can't wait until she's older to take complete and total advantage of that! (What? You know you'd all do the same thing!) :) She was born on April 16, 2006 (it was Easter that year) and she wasn't due until May 3rd! She decided to play havoc with Mom's liver and thus, an Easter baby was our gift that year! What a gift indeed! We have completely enjoyed every minute with her and she is a constant source of entertainment. I love it when she tries to imitate a dog (she sticks her tongue out and pants really loud). She's going to be a lot like her Aunt Ewee, I think.

We celebrated her birthday on Sunday with the fam. She got some really cute clothes and some new books (which she now insists on reading every night-not that that's a bad thing). Her cake was pretty cute too. Since her new favorite word is "poo" I chose to incorporate it into the cake (not the actual stuff, by the way) and got her a "Winnie the Pooh"-themed cake. It turned out really cute and Mikaela was overjoyed.

Eric and I feel so blessed to have such a beautiful, sweet natured, stalker, er I mean, toddler to dote on. She is such a joy to have and I could not imagine our family without her. We love you, Mikaela!

Haylie Nose Best!

Oh Haylie! What a little pill! She definitely keeps me guessing and yesterday was no exception. I picked her up from daycare on Tuesday night and when I saw her she looked a little worse for wear. When I asked her what was wrong she just ducked her head into my shoulder and started to cry. Once we were in the car and on our way home she began intervals of crying, screaming, and saying "owie" over and over again whenever she touched her nose. Okay, so now I know something is very, very wrong and I'm thinking to myself, "Which kid's butt am I going to have to kick at the daycare tomorrow?"
I kept asking her what's wrong, and if her nose hurt, but all she'd do is nod her head and start crying again. Oy! Let's just say my 20 minute drive home was NOT FUN. When we finally got there, Eric immediately began drilling her about what happened and within 2 minutes she was an open book- what the? What was wrong with telling me?
Apparently, our Miss Haylie decided to shove a small plastic bead up her nose and now it was stuck there and obviously hurt. Oh joy, I could already see where my night was headed-straight to the Wee Care in Layton-25 minutes in the direction I had just come from.
To make a long story short, the doctor got the bead out, but not before Haylie gave the poor woman her entire life history and then some! She even got two suckers out of the deal-I'd say she made out okay. I think it's safe to say she learned her lesson and won't be doing that again anytime soon-I hope that's the case anyway.

Bring It On!

Oh, so true! Scales are the bane of my existence! However, I am happy to report that I have lost another 5 pounds. I obviously need to step it up a little (okay, a lot), but I have been better about watching my caloric intake! If I get brave enough, I may even start running outside when the weather gets a little more predictable. I don't normally like to exercise in front of people, so we'll see.
I just keep reminding Eric that it'll be worth it to stick with me into the next life when our bodies are perfected-I'll be HOT! Hah! Well, let's be honest-anything will be an improvement over what I've got now! :) Until then, I'll just have to keep on sweatin' to the oldies!

Dog Days!

We've only had Jack for a couple of months now, but Mikaela is completely in love with this dog! She is one tough little kid. I've never seen a little girl who willingly goes over to a puppy and lets them go to town on their fingers like she does. She loves to wrestle and maul him and carts him around the house like a little doll. It's pretty funny to watch. Poor Jack-I almost feel sorry for him, but he gives as good as he gets.

It's been fun having a puppy around the house again and it's good for the girls. They love to play with him and he has plenty of energy to keep them thoroughly entertained. Now, if only we could get him to listen! Oh wait, we can't even get the girls to do that-silly Melissa, what are you thinking?

Easter Fun

Easter came so early this year. I don't think I'll ever fully understand how Easter is determined, but no matter-it was still a lot of fun for the girls and us.

We celebrated Easter a couple of different ways this year so that we could try and accomodate both families and still get to our church callings. On the Saturday before Easter we had a ward breakfast at the church. Not too bad-pancakes, ham, eggs, and juice or milk. The girls could've cared less about breakfast-they just wanted to run around the gym with all their friends.

Later that night, we ate dinner at my parents' house and had a mini easter egg hunt so the girls could have some fun outside since our house has nothing but dirt, dirt and dirt clods. I just had to make sure that Gus (my parents' sweet ottoman disguised as a dog) didn't eat any of the eggs. The girls had lots of fun hunting for the eggs and trying to beat Gus to them. My parents gave them bubbles and bubble blowers which turned out to be a huge hit for both of them. Thanks, Mom & Dad.

On Sunday, Haylie and Mikaela woke up to find the Easter Bunny had left them a couple of small presents and more eggs to hunt for. Haylie got Troy and Gabriella from High School Musical and Mikaela got a My Little Pony. They also got the movie Enchanted which we immediately had to watch twice before church! Yikes!

After all the fun and chaos of the morning and church, we headed to Eric's sister's house for dinner and more egg hunting. Unfortunately, Eric's brother and his wife and kids were unable to come and join the fun since they were sick. And Eric's dad got stuck working-boo! We missed them, but still had a fun time with the rest of the family! They also got some new shirts from Grandma Ginger and Grandpa Ernie-which they love-and some fun treats from Jodi and Alenna. Thanks everyone! We love you! Happy Easter everyone.

Happy Birthday, Eric!

Eric turned the big 35 on March 11th. I can't believe he's halfway through his 30's already! I think he had a pretty good day-all things considered. His birthday was on a Tuesday this year so Haylie and I went to his office on Monday (he's off that day) and we decorated his office with balloons, confetti, streamers and two big panels with Disney's Lightning McQueen and Mater hanging from the ceiling. Haylie and I also picked out a big red ribbon that he could wear around work proclaiming him to be the birthday boy. Later that night I had both our families over for pie and ice cream. He received some pretty nice stuff for his birthday from everyone and the girls were so excited to celebrate Daddy's birthday. He's a wonderful father and husband and the girls and I are so thankful to have him in our lives. Happy birthday, Eric! We love you.

Haylie loves her daddy!
